V6 Australia Maps

hmmm.....mine won't save to the hdd.
it keeps going through the download process.
its been almost a week now, including a 3+3hr drive.
car has had plenty of time to copy it, instead it gets to the end of the download process, then simply restarts the "download".

when i attempt to remove the dvd, i get the message saying that the download is in process.
if i do actually remove it, then it will ask me to insert the dvd navigation cd.

going through the setup menu, it says i have 79xx maps.
weird!!!

maybe i should start the car with the navigation dvd not inside?!??!

When u have that screen up press notify Mine took 17 mins to load the map.

the 1st time i put it in, ignition was off. put it in, however the rns510 turns off after 15mins, to preserve the battery.
so i left it in there overnight, hoping it would continue. next morning, disc is still in there.

while driving, with the above screen, i press notify - but i get no notification. that's because it keeps looping back to the start, when nears the end of the process.

i don't get any errors.
maybe i should try burning another disc and give that a go.

Hmm my Passat stayed on for well over an hour while I updated the Firmware and likewise a few months ago when I put 18gig of music on the HDD.
To burn my disc I used IMGBurn at 4spd on a DVD+R Did it perfectly Burned another disc and it was readable as well. So I have a spare.
It will run off the disc In fact when I put mine in it asked if I wanted to do that The map version is 7920.

its all good now.
new dvd did the trick. took less than 5 mins to complete the process. got the notification to eject the dvd, and validated the new maps.

on inspecting the 1st dvd i burned, i noticed a discolored spot on the outside of the burnt track - this must've confused it during the download process, causing it loop.

good to c the speed limits correctly displayed as 110 km/h, instead of 120 with v5 maps.

Problem now is seeing a lot of 50km showing as 60km.

checked, I have the male voice available so I do have the latest firmware!

why do people worry about the speed zones being right? in NSW, they change as frequently as traffic lights!

I believe the speed is to estimate your travel time during processing your route.

if you want the correct speed, look at the speed signs on the side of the road

A bit hard to see some speed signs when behind trees to aid the speed cameras that are out to get you Would be nice to have them correct on the screen of a multi thousand $ unit when a $150 unit can manage to include them correctly

Just updated from V5 to V6 all went smooth however map no longer displays street names, any ideas? I'm running FW3810.

We have newly released MMI 3G maps for Touareg for 2013 together with online activation solution

They are not the maps 5.4.3 released July 2012 but completely new 2013 released a week ago. As far as we know the dealers dont have online activation code for them yet.

We can install in Maroochydore if you are this way - workshop only item.

It will cost you $250 for the maps on 32 SD Card (not supplied) plus activation in the workshop $50

Price dont include GST

Just got off the phone with VW Australia on Monday trying to have V6 maps loaded on an RNS850 (Touareg) Sat Nav to no avail. Not just a case of sticking in the disc and following promps, need an activation code of which (surprise, surprise) VW Australia have no knowledge of.
Was asked on why I need my maps updated anyway if the current ones work aright????? When questioned them on likely pricing they stated that there was no fixed/standard price, so $60 sounds good if it is actually version 6.

Would that be the 7P6 051 236 D (T1000-20273) SD Card - Volkswagen Navigation AV Multi Region Map 1 (V3) or is there a newer version?
Also anyone in Sydney able to load them or do I need an excuse to travel to the Sunshire Coast
