Hold Setup button down till a menu with AM FM and Version information comes up and hit that top line is the unit model

Then do as Kamold says

Thanks so far guys. I added the 381x firmware, and loaded v6 maps. Seems to be going ok but i havent fully tested it.

I was finally able to access the secret menu and the delivery part number was 1T0035680D. According to the thread about RNS510 part numbers it seems that this unit was made from June 2011. My car was factory fitted in 2008 with the RNS510. Is this odd?

No, the firmware update changes the model ID to D — did the same thing with mine. It will still be a B unit, though, it doesn't alter the hardware.

I'm not that's the most way to accurately check the model. I have a C unit and one of the firmware upgrades changed it to appear as a D model now. Checking with VCDS or pulling out the unit to check the sticker is better.

Correct Mine was a C and now shows as a D

However if Azzamataz's unit had never been upgraded it should have shown as the original model.

I think mine did before we started playing with it

V6 maps are working fine in my RS Octavia. the route line is pale blue now. was it dark blue before?

I haven't heard any location based directions to see if it says 'dumb' or whatever it is.

don't have an option to change the voice, only the chick still. but she is ok for a pom

Picked my new Passat up tonight and upgraded the maps. Thanks for uploading them, was a breeze to DL, burn and install with all the great advice available on here.

it seems the maps still aren't complete...I had a "turn right towards dummy" when heading north in the tunnel tonight ( it was directing me towards Manly). but it has worked for other directions, so getting there.

Maps are definitely still not great. Have also had dummy directions and as I've pointed out some really poor route selection due to incorrectly recoreded speed limits on roads.

The male voice is with 4120 firmware, not v6 maps.
