Hey All

Thank you for this fantastic thread. I downloaded the maps, put it in and saved it. All seemed to work fine. I have no idea if the new maps are being used. How do i check? I did a quick google and it said to hold down setup but i do that and it only goes to the FM,AM,DAB screen and doesnt go past that?

What does that mean?

It means you have older Firmware which can be updated to give the secret menu VIM etc. Usually 4020 will do it

Its available in the 4100+ firmwares - It generally shows the Artist and Title of the song that's playing for Brisbane stations. The text doesn't show on the MFD

So I need later than the 4020 you gave me???

Yep mate, it came out a few months later There are links in the thread below, I'm not 100% sure if karmold fixed the issue where it reset the VCDS coding or not.

Unless your unit is one of the very first 2009, 2010 units you should be fine.

Has anyone ever had a dealer run a firmware update for them?

Unless it is absolutely necessary, they probably wouldn't. Just like with any other software in the VAG cars.

Updated to Firmware 4120 this arvo Took 45 mins.

All good Didnt lose maps or HDD music

Map sort of disappeared till I parked outside for a while Then had trouble as North wanted to stay at top of screen.

Put a route in (memory still there) and went for a drive of 1km Half way along it decided to reorient to direction up so is OK

Apparently according to the manual it wont load a map if you already have that version.

It took 10 mins before unit recognised it however.
All good now to find out what I got for holding breath for 45 mins LOL

I think mine may be one of the very first. I have a 2008 Tiguan with rns510. What is your recommendation.
