Upgrading Firmware on RNS 510

Hi guys just picked up my 09 Passat. The RNS 510 will read my 2GB SD cards, but not my 8GB ones. I read somewhere that upgrading the Firmware will resolve that. I've done a few searches on how to upgrade the FW, but am a bit confused. Is there a VW site I can go to, to download it from? Is it relatively straight forward? I read that you needed your Maps DVD, I don't think I have that. Any help would be appreciated!

How are you finding the sound quality of playing from SD card? I am using RCD510 and found that the sound quality on playing SD cards are not great.. maybe that is my files that are dodgy..


Did you notice an improvement of sound quality when you upgraded to RNS510 in general? ie, radio, CD etc.

There is a slight increase in quality after upgrading to the RNS510 but i am not an audiophile.

Make sure you have high bitrate MP3's as it makes all the difference.
I try to run 320k if i can, minimum of 192k

I took my 2009 Passat in for a service last week at Rex Gorell VW... and the service department upgraded the firmware for me.
