Hi, I couldn't find any recent thread on this. Hoping someone can help. I have a pretty new golf and while I find the navigation works well, there are many areas in canberra that have new roads (and when I saw new, I mean older than a year or more) that the maps simply don't recognise and lead me to getting lost!!
I asked the dealer (we got the car from Sydney) and they said you car should have the latest maps but to ask the local dealer to see if they can update them for you.
Is there anyway of knowing whether I have the most recent version of the maps. Is there anyway to update them yourself? Or do you poeple find the maps are out of date and it just a matter of waiting for updates?
thanks very much.
If your car is later than about March 2010 it should have the latest maps (V3), which did fix a lot of errors.
However, I find it still loses me now and again in Melbourne (and not just on new or changed roads) — probably the same will apply in other cities. I think even V3 is about 3 years behind current road development.
I've yet to find a way to update them on the fly, and they still don't cover large parts of Australia that are to be found on cheap hand-helds.
Probably this is a money-saving move by VW — buy the cheapest maps Sensis offer and sell them dear.
