    TV on the RNS510

Up the top of thhe screen, in the media section on my sat nav (in a Golf R), it has TV and AV greyed out that can't be selected.

I did notice from that polish guy, he has these parts that allow for

    A) the thing to play whilst moving.

    B) Digital TV!!! (very keen)

    C) possibly play a video signal through it.

Anyone tried it, what part numbers for a RHD and how is the reception?

I've seen thte TV in an S3 and it's great!!

Hey mate. Renaming this from "TV in the Golf R" to "TV on the RNS510" and moving into the VW Car Audio and Electronics forum. I'm not a mod there, so I can't merge this with existing threads. But you'll probably find your answers already there...

I'm sure I've seen threads on this before... just maybe not here. Basically, the end result was it was too difficult to do. I think there was a module available in one market, but given TV transmission is different depending on the market, it's not a global thing. If someone can figure it out, I'm definitely keen too, but you might just be stuck watching DVDs instead..

    Look what I found:
Car Digital TV DVB-T Tuner RNS510 MFD3 multimedia MPEG4 (eBay item 270672493800 end time 30-Dec-10 22:51:54 AEDST) : Cars, Bikes, Boats

I'll admit it's not the greatest looking/integrated solution. As far as I can see, it's the standard Video-in-motion + Video input device bundled with a portable HD Set Top Box that connects to your 12v. I'm assuming there are no on-screen controls (similar to controlling a DVD in the RNS510), hence the inclusion of a remote and iR receiver.

I'm tempted, but I can't see how I would implement it in a non-tacky way. Perhaps you could mount the TV Tuner in the boot (where there is another 12v output), then run the iR cable back to the front somewhere if the wire is long enough.

I think I'll pass this time. I should at least grab a few DVDs for the odd occasions that I'm waiting in the car. It's not like I use the CD/DVD drive in the RNS510 for anything else (I only really use HDD and SD).

[+] The other TV threads are here and here.

Check the dimension of the TV tuner - the upper compartment in glovebox (if you don't have an MDI kit in there) used to store service book, might be a good alternative location for a factory-look install position.

This might be off topic, but iv can't find any posts on this.

I noticed you mentioned, playing while working and iv been tying to find out how to, while watching DVD's on the RNS510.

    Any ideas?

Am I the only one who doesn't understand that question?
