Perhaps it's cheaper to change the trailer lights back to the incandescent variety?

So to continue the trailer LED lights MkV Golf discovery, Westfalia has a 300 odd page on-line catalogue which identifies parts as well as entire wiring kits.

It lists the trailer light boxes they sell with a conversion table. Just plug in your VWA box part number, my Mk V box is coded 506153 (which is Westfalia 2008 MY), and look up the equivalent Westfalia replacement part, in this case, 900001506758.
Great I thought, just buy the box. Looked up the cost, only $190AUD.

Tried just plugging "Westfalia code + used" into a search engine. No luck
Meanwhile, Whitworths Marine which is Australia-wide has non-LED trailer light boards for $77AUD.
Seems a waste of technology, but that looks like the cost-effective solution.
