Text to speech via BT
So this function works well with my phone. But only if I'm streaming music via Bluetooth. ie,if the phone is the active music source.
If a call comes in, it will interrupt whatever I have on so I can accept the call - as you would usually expect.
When any other source is selected, the phone doesn't interrupt the music to let me know I have a text.
Does this work for you guys?
Phone is a Nokia Lumia 1520. But same thing happened on the 920, 925 and 1320. I'm thinking it might be a feature of the phone.
Using RNS510 with 41xx firmware. BT unit I think is a 9W7
Matti, how about yours?

On Android there's an app (A2DP Volume) that lets you choose what 'audio stream' to send the SMS alert on (Music, Alarm, Phone).
By selecting phone the car MFD shows a fake incoming call which is automatically answered and allows the text message to be read out regardless of what I'm listening to.
You'd have to find a similar app for your ?Windows Phone?

No app required for Windows Phone. there is an option in the BT settings to use an 'alternate' way to communicate. Turns out it fakes a call which is automatically answered by the car and Cortana dictates the message to me, and I can dictate a reply
Thanks to Matti for reminding me of that setting!
A2DP is separate and still streams normally.
