Tearing my hair out over RCD330 issue

    Hi all,

I have an '11 Amarok which had an RCD330 (187B) head unit retrofitted by previous owner. Everything had been done, except I've never had the reverse camera work despite it being fully installed at the back and behind the HU. I figured it was down to the coding, so I got a VCDS cable and followed a guide to change the 56-radio byte 3 bit 6 to 'backup camera installed', restarted the HU, but still nothing. when I put the car into reverse with 'backup camera installed' on, nothing on the HU screen changes. When I turn the bit off and on again without restarting the HU, the reverse camera screen shows up, but with no camera feed. It sticks around until the HU restarts.

I've verified that the camera works as when hooked up to a separate screen in the cab using the cable that runs to the back of the car, I get a feed from the camera when entering reverse.

    What I've tried:

    - Enabling 6C back-up cam module in the CAN gateway - module is inaccessible.
    - Changing the adaptation in 10-park/steer assist to visual display 'automatic' or 'rearview camera' - does nothing.
    - Updating firmware for the HU - still doesn't work.
    - Checked fault codes - none.

If anyone has any clues as to what I could possibly be doing wrong I'd really appreciate any help.

    Cheers

Thank you. I have since worked out the issue - wrong camera format, even with the spare camera I tested.

One thing that comes to mind is the wiring or the connection between the head unit and the camera. Sometimes there might be an issue with the signal not getting through properly due to a loose connection or a bad cable. Have you checked the integrity of the wiring all the way from the camera to the head unit?
