No real experience here, but I remember a discussion a while back about attaching an antenna in the gap between the bonnet and screen (maybe via the hinge bracket). Perhaps this is what you've seen.

G'day everyone.
I want to mount a UHF antena to the left side of the bonnet of my van, but due to the steep angle, can't find a suitable mounting bracket. I know you can get them as I've seen more than one T5 with a mount high up on the left side of the bonnet - left forward quarter panel.
Does any one know of a suitable mount available?
I currently use a magnetic mount on the roof but want something permanant.
Thanks for any advice and best wishes.
Ken

Thanks Brian.
The brackets are on the left side of the car, between the left quarter panel and the bonnet edge.
The bracket would require an angle to ensure the antenna sits vertical.
Best wishes mate.

Baytown - I managed to buy a pair from ETT ($$$). The same ones used on the ambulances and the police vans. It was a mission getting them. ETT do not usually deal with the public...
I had several attempts prior but it really requires two people as you need to get your bonnet on/off a couple times. I am always short on time and a spare pair of hands, so I went for the "Buy It Now" option
G'day MM.
Thanks for the reply mate.
I managed to get a bracket which hopefully will fit from Ebay:

I'll let the group know if it fits, failing that, I'll look into your suggestion.
Best wishes mate.

Which is a nice bracket and great seller, but doesn't fit the T5. Bugger!

For something like this, why not head down to your local stainless steel fabricator and get them to make up a custom bracket for you?
It really should not be that difficult. A good fabricator would be able to make one exactly the way you want.
What you do is put a bit of masking tape to protect the fender.
Get a piece of stainless steel and get it vertical.
Use a marker to mark the angle of the fender.
This is your first bend line.
The second bend line will be at right angles to the strip ad a distance appropriate to the mounting of the antenna.
Then it is a case of drilling the fixing and antenna holes.
The thickness of the metal will be limited by the gap between the bonnet and the fender. You have the one you bought, so you could show the fabricator what you are looking for, but one that works for you.
G'day Wai.
Thanks for that mate and yep, I realis I can get anything made up, but obviously it's easier if a standard commercial off the shelf bracket is available. I probably will go that way but it's not the easiest option due to the mucking around.
Best wishes mate.
