RCD510 upgrade - accessory compatiblility

Hi guys,

Just wanted to tap some users' knowledge about the RCD510... Looking to upgrade from the 310, but before I do I want to make sure all the current features would work as they do at the moment. I've searched across the web but found no threads that ask about all these features on the 510 in conjunction with one another.

Specifically;

- I have MDI in the centre console which I have my iPod Touch permanently attached to, playing through and want to maintain this functionality.
- I have parking sensors and Park Assist - with the display of object distance on the 310, which I believe means it has OPS - so would want to make sure this will also display on a 510 (understand it might need a code).
- I also have Bluetooth, which supports media streaming so (again I'm assuming) it's 9w7, would also like to gain Voice Activation (probably also need a code).

So to get all this to work, do I just need any RCD510? Or do I need one with a mustard plug for RVC which perhaps the OPS sensor loom would plug into or something?

My understanding is that the RCD510 will do everything the 310 will without any changes. However I think for the MDI interface to work you will need a Bosch unit not the cheap Chinese ones. I just upgraded my 310 to a Bosch RCD510 took half an hour to change over. Just needed to enter the security code and everything worked, blue tooth and all. Your OPS should work fine on a non reverse camera 510 too as the 310 does not have the mustard plug either.

Ok great, thanks for the info! Do you know if I did happen to get a 510 with the mustard plug whether the OPS would still display in R? Like a black screen wouldn't come up attempting to show the RVC output, despite nothing being connected, overriding the OPS display do you think?

Yeah won't be getting a Delphi... keeping an eye on some in the FS forum and ebay.

It should do as that is what your car is coded to tell the RCD to do. I could be wrong though.
