AUX in with basic controls (RCD510)

Hey all, have had a new GTI for a week now, loving it.

Im curious (and have searched) if its possible to control basic things like next/previous song via the aux input, as I notice the controls come up in the display (RCD510) but are disabled.

There is control for this on Apple's headphones (double click for next, tripple click for previous etc).. so I'm wondering if the RCD510 has something like this built in.. but my current 3.5mm headphone male-male cable is a basic one and doesnt have as many 'connections' as my headphone cable.

Probably not possible but the fact the controls come up on the screen, albeit they are disabled, intrigues me.

    Cheers
    Chris

I've had the Aux input retrofitted on my Mk5 and I don't have any functions through the HU/Steering wheel at all. I wish I did though.

There is no standard for control over a 3.5mm cable and if you look at the apple one it will have extra connections (as you noted) for the control.

So there is no way to control anything using the 3.5mm input on the head unit.
