Hi guys,
Bought a Bosch RCD510 from ebay from a parts mob in Melbourne who were advertising that it came out of a wrecked GTI. Now, I have finally received the headunit but I requested a receipt of purchase as well as the vin and chassis number of the car it came out of so that I can get the security code from VW Australia. I am starting to suspect that this might be a problem. Anyhow, my question is: Is there any other way of obtaining the security code!! And is there a way that I can just turn it on without it being in the car, ie just hooking up to a battery?? I know that it sounds like a stupid question. I think that I might have to go back for paypal protection because I just can't get an answer out of this mob

Just wondering what the market value is on an RCD510? Took mine out of my R almost immediately as it was replaced with an eBay nav unit. Trading the car in and they want the nav unit not the RCD so I guess it's mine to sell
