    Scirocco Dynaudio... shockingly bad?

    Hi all,

I've recently bought a used MY13.5 Scirroco R, which has the Dynaudio option selected. I see the badges on the front door speakers, the amp under the passenger side seat, and the splash screen shows 'Powered by Dynaudio' so I'm fairly certain the option is there. Now the problem...

It sounds so, so bad. Shockingly bad.

I might consider myself a hobbyist audiophile but I don't think I'm a snob. But this thing just sounds so bad with massively bloated bass, shrill highs and muted muted mids when the EQ is set to 0. I've searched the internet and I can't get much of a review of how what others think of the Dynaudio sounds in the Scirocco, only the Golf. But I figure it must sound similarly crap considering this thread (Dynaudio system - how does it measure? - VW GTI MKVI Forum / VW Golf R Forum / VW Golf MKVI Forum / VW GTI Forum - Golfmk6.com); mine also starts to sound decent with similar settings in this thread. I'm currently on treble -8, mid 0, bass -8 but it still sounds muddy with bloated, undefined bass although miles better than the default settings.

I have trouble accepting this is what its meant to sound like, but again the thread above (using measurements) appears to confirm the default settings are horrible.

A few questions for the crowd:
    - Anyone want to share experience with the Dynaudio in the Scirocco in particular? What settings sound best?
    - What firmware (RNS510) do the MY13.5 cars come with? I just want to check the previous owner hasn't played with the settings or upgraded the firmware wrong or something.
    - Any audio related settings on VCDS? Again just want to see if the previous owner possibly changed something.
    - The last thing I can think of that the previous owner maybe replaced the speaker drivers with cheaper ones for some reason (highly unlikely). Might even take it to a mechanic to check it out.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, it's really stopping me from enjoying the car.

Its possible that the RNS is incorrectly configured in VCDS.

It MAY be set to be outputting speaker level, unbalanced output as if it didn't have an amp.

You can also turn 'loudness' off in the RNS' 'secret' menu to see if that coupled with eq settings can get closer to the sound you want.

    Thanks for the responses guys!

I'm SUPER keen to turn the 'Loudness' setting off, the sound I'm hearing sounds exactly like something like that is turned on. I'm keen to try that code as well.

Now... how to get my hands on a VCDS box? hmm
