I know HTC left a very old bluetooth module in for the HTC Incredible S and did not take the upgrade, people have been having issues connecting to BMW / Audi bluetooth modules with HTC:

Some developers have made their own HID drivers for Android phones without the upgrade, however cant find anyhting for HTC...
Yep phone book loads both on RNS and MFD screen, couple of things;
1/ Are you using the standard android/samsung phone book? Or one of those personal assistant apps which manage this stuff? I am using the standard one
2/ Running Android 2.3.3
3/ Do you have administrators configured on your phone? I do not use this as have found issues with this and bluetooth on my PC.
4/ Disable any power saving or power saving apps, just use the 'notification slide down' to enabel disable wifi, blueooth, gps etc.
1)Standard android/samsung phone book
2)Running Android 2.2 (cant get gingerbread yet. But I tried the bluetooth on my sisters Galaxy 2 which is on gingerbread and the car would not even detect her phone)
3)No administrators on the phone
4)All power savings apps disabled
Tried again this afternoon, first it connected, could access phone book through MFD. I called the phone, no problems, went through the cars bluetooth, could see it on both the RNS and MFD (great I think!) then I tried to make a call accessing the phones phone book through the car - 'Call failed'. So I try making a call by pressing the buttons on the phone, calls fine, but does not go through the car bluetooth (I do the same think on my Nokia and it DOES go through the car bluetooth, even when dialed from the phone directly). Try calling the samsung again, call goes through to phone, even though its connected to the car (and I still have access to the phone book). I disconnect, turn car off and on again, this time it wont even detect the samsung!
My Samsung Galaxy Ace is running Gingerbread and the Phone Book refuses to download. Car is latest model Passat with RNS510. iPhone4 used to work perfectly but the Android is giving me a headache.
It connects most of the time (but not all of the time) to allow me to use the Bluetooth in a basic way but not once has it allowed Phone Book download.
I just bought a Samsung S11 today and same problem.It will not download the phone book...tried copying numbers from sim card to phone and still no good... I hope someone can figure this out as my Nokia N97 mini worked fine.. I have the Kufatek Fiscon hands free kit installed... the MFD worked great.... I should have checked here for problems first...LOL

Similar deal here: 2012 Tiguan w factory BT paired with Samsung Galaxy S2, stock Contacts software, no Admin accounts (not even sure what that means). Bluetooth connects fine, can play podcasts, music no probs, & can dial calls out/receive calls, but won't download phone book. Android 2.3.3
Don't have any answers, just thought I'd add to the roster of folk with this problem.
Don't know if this will help anyone, But I changed my firmware and maps as per this thread and when I got to pairing my phone, The phonebook downloaded....
