That can't be right, I thought the release date was October 9th for that one.

Check settings -> about device, and see if android version says 4.1.1.

Honestly I hate locked android phones, they often have issues specific to the one carrier and then the wider community may not be able to help. Never had any problems pairing to anything on my S3. Works much better than iPhone

Is it possible to reverse the connection i.e. make the RNS discoverable and pair from your phone?

    Hey DkN,

Telstra have been offering it online since the start of the month. October 9th is the instore release. The android version number on my phone is 4.1.1.

I'll try the reverse method in the morning. But the strange thing is, that it's showing up in the phone as paired with the VW, but the VW is saying not compatible.

Wow, so there you go, it isn't an ics issue. My SII running a Euro version of ics runs fine apart from i often get a "cannot download all telephone book" even though it seems to have the whole book in there (not easy to tell,i have hundreds in my book these days, many with multiple numbers).

It is a jelly bean issue!? Wow. Wonder what google changed in that department for Bluetooth.

Nah, I have Jelly Bean and have no issues. I have an ANS unit though obviously, not the RNS-510, but it's A2DP all the same, so any problems would be the VW end.

I have just got my shiny Galaxy Note 2 running android 4.1.1 and have this problem, too. Talk about a major let-down.

Interesting... well as I say my S3 on Jelly Bean has no issues connecting to my ANS-810 with phonebook download. Perhaps this is something that a newer RNS-510 firmware might fix?

Alternatively maybe this will help, although their issue is not exactly the same:

I have HW H41 and SW 4020. That link doesn't help, thanks, because the RNS510 refuses to connect to the phone, saying it is incompatible.

Happy to report that this issue has been solved for my Note 2. The RNS510 won't allow adding a new user if another phone is connected. I turned off my wife's bluetooth and my Note 2 connected as it's supposed to. My mistake, not the car's. Not sure if this is relevant to the S3, though.

I thought this might be the case initially, but I have removed the previous iPhone profile and that phone is now no where near the car.

Car needs to go to the dealer, so will ask them. But at this rate will have to sell the new phone and revert back to iPhone. The bluetooth not working with the car is a major deal breaker.

So is there a fix to this because I'd started experience problems on my S3 too running 4.0.4 and trying to connect to the RNS510 on my Tiguan. It's driving me nuts as I never had any issues with my old iphone so now I can't receive any hands free calls which was the whole point of bluetooth!

I also can't delete any old phones on the RNS - surely there must be a way of doing that?
