lol ok then, but I can only assume the S3 works the same way as my S2 (also running ICS)

Press the Menu key (left of the home key)
In the popup menu press Settings

Under Wifi, Bluetooth, Data Usage, press More...

    Select USB Utilities

Press Connect Storage to PC button

    Connect phone to the MDI

Click Turn on USB Storage (this will make your files innaccessible on the phone, some apps will stop working).

If connected to PC drives are mapped for Internal Storage and MicroSD (External_SD). However the MDI can only show one drive as far as I know, in my case it was the Micro SD.

ICS (what I'm running) is the same as yours (Ice Cream Sandwich). All major Android versions are named after Deserts.

    Which menu don't you see?

Hate to spoil the party but not all ICS is the same. This is the downside to having a one operating system multiple hardware vendors as each make and model is implemented differently. The menu he seeks does not exist on the S3, unless he finds an application or roots his device. The S3 does not at the moment support USB Mass Storage mode.

Nah that's ok. I new the S3 wasn't as good as the S2 in some measure already. I figured since Samsung would've designed the S3 software around the same time as preparing the S2 update they should be pretty similar. Guess not.

Just grab a cheap USB stick and chuck all your music on there then, or get bluetooth installed.

hey ryan, does all gti have bluetooth?
my rcd510 doesn't seem to have bluetooth, yet i hear everyone talk about bluetooth.

is it an extra module i need to install? if so, how much and how to install?

I think they started adding BT in the Polo/Golf GTI starting with MY11.5 or something close to that. Just hit the right button on your steering wheel to show the various MDI screens and see if there's one for Phone.

There are other threads in the Audio section regarding where to get bluetooth (eBay) and how to install (DIY).
