I have the Fiscon Basic Plus in my Passat. This is the 4th bluetooth kit I have used in my cars and must say it is the best I have experienced by far!!!

For the cost ($850-) it is a great value unit IMO.
09 Passat R36 Sedan - Black, Sunroof, Dynaudio, SatNav, Kufatec Bluetooth.

    For BT options - http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newf...ad.php?t=31461

As Maverick says the Skoda kit is the best functionally, but it will set you back about $1500 installed. The Fiscon is about 8 - 900 and does what the Skoda one does except no voice activation.

MDI is available for retrofit yes. See Maverick's links for more info.

Re TV there are video options available, but none of them are cheap... www.kufatec.de has options for DVB-T. The RNS510 has AV in, but you need an AV controller and a TV unit... Bear in mind too that video will cut off once you start moving, as per Australian legislation... There are ways around that, although obviously it is still illegal to have video in the eyesight of the driver whilst moving.

    E.g. this for Golf Mk V - http://www.kufatec.de/shop/product_i...M-Control.html

IMO not as good as the Skoda which can be picked up for around $650 from the UK.

Kufatec's quality control leaves a bit to be desired, I have the video in, reverse camera in and video in motion and all have problems.

ouch! thanks for the feedback!! Fiscon Pro is cheaper..but I guess it doesn't matter if it doesn't work well (cheap and bad.. can't equate to "good")

*gulp* I've ordered their Video In Motion... can you share with us the problem with the Kufatec VIM?

    Thanks again for sharing.

    Cheers!

The video in motion problem is that the only feature that it has doesn't work which is the ability to disable it by pressing a button on the steering wheel. It displays video in motion however so at least that works.

Don't get me started on the video in and the reverse camera interface, I'll post on those soon enough.

Thanks Maverick!! I read somewhere that we need to press some steering button to enable/disable it...

But I can't find any more feedback on the Video In Motion adapter.

Sorry to hear about your trouble with the input and rear view camera from Kufatec.. i've not used it myself... but would be good to hear your feedback as I was considering the ipod + video input Kufatec adapter.

    Thanks for sharing again!!!

Yeah $1500 for bluetooth does sound awefully expensive, isn't there any like $300ish options lol... the MMI sounds like a good idea to be honest and for around $400 sounds alright, but if I get the MMI can I get the Iphone to work the same as a bluetooth via the Ipod cable.

The MDI (not MMI) is a neat piece of kit. Not sure what you mean by "work the same as a bluetooth vis the Ipod cable" though... when you connect an iPod to the MDI you get full control of the iPod from the head unit, including selecting artists, genres, albums, etc. What else do you mean?

The cheapest Bluetooth that you will get fully integrated will set you back about 800 or 900. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, see this sticky - http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/newf...ad.php?t=31461

Re maverick's issues with Kufatec & / or Fiscon, so far we have:

    1. Video in Motion - can't disable the ViM from steering wheel control
    2. Unspecified details but "don't have a lot of faith in Kufatec"
    3. Reverse camera not activating 10 - 15% of time on reverse selection (is that correct Maverick, I remember reading that somewhere in the last day or two but can't find it now).

wow, to be honest that's probably the most important and beneficial feature... any idea why it won't work, that would be sooo goood... I wouldn't mind that
