    Exclamation RNS510 MDF3 Version 3 - No GPS singal

Hi Guys, I have problem of getting GPS signal and am hoping you guys can help me.
I have a VW passat MY08 and have recently bought RNS 510 MDF3 Version C.
    Here are the item details:
    Part number: 1TO 035 680 C
    HW: H11
    SW:2760

I installed it myseld yesterday and it placed the GPS antenna right above the cavity where the GPS unit sits.
At first the GPS was slow and was running behind in location but then after about 5 minutes it started working fine.
But today morning, it did not pick any signal and was only getting 1 satellite out of 9. I tried for over 30 mins with no luck.
Can you please advise what the problem could be?
    Please help.

I can check the wiring again, the gps antenna was simple to attach.
However the radio antenna didnt fix properly.
Could that have anything to do with it?
All other features of the unit are working perfectly fine, except the GPS.

    doubt it.

Where did you get the GPS antenna from? Sounds like a faulty unit (antenna)

I bought the entire unit including the antenna from eBay.
The seller recons that I need to run the antenna through the side airbag and stick it on the windscreen.
Not sure if I can do that without taking the car into the dealership.

Hi the unit didnt come with the adaptor. But I have ordered it since on eBay. But the radio is not my problem. It's the gps. This morning I did get signal buy that was after approx 15 minutes of driving.

Most here have sat the GPS antenna on the metal shelf just above where the RNS sits, thats where i have mine and it works very well ,just make sure that its been clipped in correctly .

My current setup is OEM however in my A3 I retrofitted the RNS-E in the same way with an aftermarket GPS antenna under the dash. Worked fine.

Just a thought - the cables that get supplied with these GPS antenna seem unneccessarily long. If not properly shielded, and especially if any excess is spooled up on itself you're asking for poor reception...is it possible to get shorter cables? Or cut the cable to the approx correct length and solder the connector back on?
