I did have a look at some of the OEM parts suppliers but couldn't find the centre air vent trim by itself...Looks like this'll be my next purchase .

If you look at TM Tuning, they have the complete centre unit which includes both vents all assembled for $75 US. You are right, you can't just buy the little plastic anchor parts that you lost. I know, because i did the same thing.

I gotta say i'm getting used to the idea of not having the horizontal slats on the centre vent, it almost looks better (more race-like) having just the vertical slats and the open hole!

No, you are in good company. I spent hours trying to fashion some sort of thing that would secure the vents, almost suceeded. The one I lost is in there somewhere, I suspect forever.

I just got one of these units aswell and got vw to code it all up for me.
Unfortunately they couldn't get it to woRk with the steering wheel controls. (I.e volume and next/previous song or mute)
Is there anyone in Melbourne who would know how to fix this?
I'm happy to reimburse for the help.
