    Question RNS510 Issues?!

    Hey All,

I have just spent a lot of today installing my RNS510, MDI and CAN Bus, and all in is and working...mostly...until you get to the finer detail... I have a few problems if people can help me with them:

    1) when I got to the test menu, I check out the HDD and it tells me 'tempstatus: Degraded' I am guessing this means that the HDD is failing, from other forums...anyone have any further ideas on this?

    2) I put in my V4 Maps DVD and it asked to save to HDD, I said YES, and then nothing happened, no maps installed, nav will only work when the DVD is in...I am guessing this may be related to the above?

    3) When I attempt to run the memory error check in the setup menu, I click YES again, but again nothing happens?

Thanks all..hoping I can get this sorted

    Hi csd1uk,
To try and answer your questions:

    1. Check the other temp status messages. If they are normal I wouldn't worry about the drive status, it likely means that the drive does not support temperature monitoring or there is a problem reading the thermistor. The drive has possibly been replaced in the past with another model that does not support this function. I have installed an SSD in my RNS-510 and it always shows this status.

    2. It takes a while to load the map data to the HDD. Once you insert the DVD, hit the NAV button, then press eject, it should prompt you that it is still installing and give you a progress bar. Then you will know when it has finished loading.

    3. Don't worry about the memory error check.

    Hope this helps.

    Hey thanks for you answers

In relation to number 2) which then appears to be the main issue, I inserted the DVD, and now do not get the option to install to HDD anymore. The first time I inserted the DVD I did, and chose save to HDD, then nothing appeared to happen, I went to nav, and the DVD just ejected without issue. No prompting.

I guess now somehow I need to try and install again?!
