RNS510 help!

You need to burn discs really slowly and use good quality ones Not Princo crap or stuff like that , And not rewriteables

i burn them at 1x with imgburn, and i use verbatim cd-r discs, the map update as well swl_fix work perfectly fine but the other fw updates(except fw5238 by josi) do not even start

Can you give us a bit more background on the unit? Did you buy it second-hand from a wrecker, or was it a known good unit?

Here is the link to the teardown and SSD update that johnc made RNS-510 HDD replacement/SSD swap DIY ; if the HDD has died, I would recommend going to an SSD or CF card with an adaptor like in that guide.

i got it as a gift from a friend because the touch stopped working.. i used the old erasing rubber trick on all connection cables and the touch works perfectly.. i wanted to update fw because of v17 east europe maps and it failed on hdd part of update..now with swl_fix the touch is working and unit only takes fw5238 update and still fails on hdd part :/

Will 5238 actually work with Euro maps Isnt the map capacity too small for them

well it did work when it was installed but the unit does not register touch on radio code screen

There are mutltiple variations of 5238 (EURO/NAR/AusNZ).
Kamold (I believe) set up the AusNZ version which partitioned the HDD into 90/5/5% partitions.
