Sounds to me like it's gone backwards... the ability to turn off display and read 16GB cards are features of 2660. How did it get that on there? Had you upgraded it yourself? What car is it in?
Just recently had my car in for it's first service, one thing I asked to be looked at was the lack of fader option in the RNS510 I also handed over a print out off Mav's site showing the Vagcom changes that could be made in some cases (just in case it was relevent).
When I got the car back back it appeared to have a new firmware...all my previously loaded mp3's were gone...10gigs worth , the display colour is red (previously blue?) and it has lost the ability to read my 16gig mem card as well as missing the option to turn off the display, which i really miss for night driving.
Anyone have any ideas on what firmware I had and what i have now??

It's in an R32 purchased new late last year... dealer fitted unit I hadn't touched the firmware.
All i wanted was the fader option
This is becoming fustrating, they told me they hadn't gone backwards in fw as it was impossible to do so, the dealer is an hour and a half away.
Thanks for the heads up on The Nav DVD Swallowtail! I wasn't supplied one either.

Can I ask what you mean by turn off the display while driving at night? Isnt there a switch for day/night? Do you mean turn off the display only while still playing music?

OK, to answer both those questions...
Yes it is possible to go backwards in firmware versions.
Turn off the display - with version 2660 (and later) you can use the RNS510 (i.e. still play music, use the nav for verbal and MFD instructions) but turn off the display... it's great at night when you want a dark cabin.
How do you actually turn the display on and off? I ask because I seem to have a unit that is doing that by itself, when I don't want it off.

swallowtail is right
The dealer has simply inserted THEIR latest firmware disc which unfortunately for you is not as new as your original.Simple. Ring them up and Get them to quote what exactly the firmware number on their disc is.
