    RNS510 compatibility?

Lots of read me stuff here are from 2010. So I am not too sure whether some of them are still valid.

I'm currently driving a MK6 2014MY Jetta. I have a RCD310 and would like to get RNS510 and a reverse camera. It seems like reverse camera is easy, just plug it, enable from VAGCOM. However RNS510, seems to be complex.

    1) VW RNS 510 J LED SAT NAV Navigation V12 2015 Beetle Sharan Caddy EOS Golf Jetta 0628586718081 | eBay This one says it is J, there are also D and C ones available on eBay. What's their difference? Also, do I need CANBUS devices or anything like that?

    2) Assuming I've got the above link. Would it fit perfectly, and work with all existing Bluetooth, steering wheel controls etc.?

    3) Same assumption, can I install Australian maps on this one?

Rns510 will drop straight in and as the newer jetta no worries about canbus issues. You will need a gps antenna that you can located behind the dash. Then code the RNS to the dash so you get directions etc on the cluster. Will work with factory BT fine and display calls and phone book etc. If you install a reverse camera then you will need to wire all through the car and then code head unit for camera so it displays your picture. Basically the higher the last letter of the part number the newer the unit is...

Thanks for the info. What about Australian maps? Also I assume we need to vag com to display navigation stuff on the dash as well?

RNS510 is super easy. VCDS (VAG COM) is typically needed to enable the extra MFI screens as you say. The different letters at the end are just small revisions/updates over the years. Things like slightly faster processors, different HDDs, firmware, screen, button graphics, etc. Higher letter is better, but you may decide the price isn't worth it. Up to you.

Installing a reversing camera is a bit trickier with all the wiring, etc. All the 2010 info will still be relevant for any MK6 (although most is targeted towards the Golf). Have a look at tinyurl.com/vwstuff for guides and other stuff. Maps can be purchased from a dealer for ~$60 on average.
