Does your car have factory fitted Bluetooth (eg it should be under the drivers seat and the module sits inside a foam casing - assuming you still have a MK6 GTI as per your earlier posts) or perhaps an aftermarket unit? Many of the aftermarket units sit in the dash behind the stereo.
I just remembered that there are 2x versions of Bluetooth in the Mk6 era cars. You possibly have the more basic 9w2 version which does not support music streaming (only phone calls), whereas the later 9w7 version supports both phone calls and music streaming.
I used to have a 2011 Mk6 Golf R and I optioned that with the 9w7 bluetooth. And then later I had a MK6 GTI which did not come with Bluetooth, but I retrofitted the 9w7 kit and both cars supported music and phone calls.
Its a pretty cheap upgrade, assuming you already have the genuine wiring harness and the Bluetooth module under the drivers seat Volkswagen Bluetooth 9w7 Premium Retrofit Kit VW OEM Genuine 7P6035730 - Euro Car Electronics store
