RNS510 Australia V4 maps out ?

Another added feature of the higher FW versions currently redundant due to the V3 map is the ability to upload your own personal POIs (created using POInspect0r) via SD Card onto the RNS510.

So please PM me (any V4 map owners) if you're up for this little test and I'll send you a sample file with 2 speed camera POIs to see whether it works.

How do you get to the secret menu ? I installed last night all OK and certainly the maps have changed (I know one for example right near my place that was blocked off about 2-3 years ago that was not blocked on the old map, but is blocked on the new one). I'm in the Eastern Suburbs in sydney if you want to give it a go yourself. PM Me.

Also, if someone with the V4 maps can confirm if the unit now shows current speed limit, that would be great.

The RNS510 units with the latest Euro maps apparently show the current speed limit of the road you are on, whereby the Aus V3 maps don't.

Strange that VW Australia uses Sensis / Whereis maps for the RNS510, but VW everywhere else uses Navteq maps, which are generally updated more frequently. Doesen't guarantee that compilation to suit RNS510 would happen any more frequently, however... My RNS510 is stuck in 2008/9 as well! I live in an area with many new roads, and the system wants me to "make a U-turn if possible" many times...

Navteq maps in Australia are terrible compared to Sensis - VW have definitely made the right choice there ....

No speed limit is shown using the new maps, unfortunately. Something I was looking for as well.

hi all for those following this thread i can confirm that POI's are not available in the menu for the this version of the map (v4) so i conclude that it also wont recognise uploaded POI's ! bummer will have to wait till the end of the year and hope sensis get up to date with ever one else and give us POI's and road speed limits !

Yes ... what a disappointment!

Met up with wandersen and could see that he had POIs on his (C unit, FW 2720).

But none on mine (also C unit but FW 3930) running the same V4 map.

So it's literally just a map upgrade, with no file structure change required by FW 3810 or higher, to support things like basic POIs.
Let alone, my pipe dream of SD Card upload of personal POIs.

Anyhow my advice is to rollback to FW 2760 or lower, if you really want the basic POIs back.
Cause they're definitely there on the V4 map!

Alternatively, if you don't want to downgrade FW on your D unit, load your favourite destinations via SD Card this way: http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/f78/...tml#post670541

So when you upgraded to 3810, did you do any intermediate upgrades to ensure you received the new Partitioning that is required by the new maps?

I'm still running 2720 on my C (star) unit, and apparently 4000 should be out soon so might look at updating to 4000 and the v4 maps
