RNS 510 - Unable to enter destination address while moving

Anyone else's RNS not allow them to enter destinations while driving?
Any idea how to disable this?

I upgraded from my RCD510 to RNS510 but the other day while I was driving, my wife tried to enter in a destination address but the unit came up with "for your safety do not enter complex addresses whilst driving" or something to that effect. This comes up instead when you press the Street/City etc to try to bring up the keyboard. The only button then is Cancel which takes you back out to the destination entry screen.

I have not come across this reported anywhere. Is it a firmware/hardware version thing?

    Here's my setup screen:

I also asked someone else that has a (factory fitted) RNS, and he does not get this happening - he can enter addresses whilst driving.

On newer firmware revisions (3970), this is normal.

With the v5 maps however you can now enter a destination via voice control whilst in motion...

Haven't had much luck with voice with any device (including good old Siri, my other car or Telstra/Vodafone call centre!).
    Way too frustrating.

    Any way to disable this?

Has nothing to do with the firmware.

You are able to disable this via VCDS thru module 37 (Navigation). Follow this guide and you'll be able to 'fix' this problem

Thanks for that! I remember seeing that option when I had the VCDS.... shame I have returned it to it's owner.
    Might have to re-borrow it.
    Cheers

Neat! I've always seen it but never bothered to work-around it! Thanks!
