I have the c version with firmware 2660, also get error report from can bus 1044 dont know if has anything to do with it.
Have you tried going for a drive?
Assume you have the AUS maps on it?
Unfortunately you have the dreaded Regensburg syndrome. Better than swineflu but probably just as annoying.
It is more of a glitch . You can try updating your firmware but it seems hit and miss according to others.Some have fixed the problem by downgrading their firmware.I am not suggesting you do this just reporting what i have read. Go over to vwnavi.com for more info.
Looks like i might have to upgrade the can bus gateway just dot know which version ....... or change the firmware to a lower spec
Hope this extra bit of information helps;

I've always been deeply suspicious about the Regensburg syndrome being a problem with the owner (or dealer) not the RNS510. So here goes with my experiences - may be totally wrong of course...
When my Tig was delivered, dealer had loaded the Aussie maps, unit was picking up lots of satellites, but map was blank. Dealer puzzled. Eventually told me to drive around for a bit and it 'would fix itself' - which it didn't.
Noticed it kept changing its Lat/Long co-ordinates from a position that was clearly in Europe (which is why the map screen was blank, since Europe isn't part of Australia. Not lately anyway).
So - entered my home address (which satnav was quite happy to look up, since it had the Aussie map) and saved it as the unit's 'Home' address. Problem solved, as that wiped out the stored Lat/Long (which is, of course, the factory location).
Dealer rang next day to ask how things went - told him the fix - long silence as he had a 'doh' moment. Recovered by saying 'yes, we usually save the customers home address in the unit for them, and so never have that problem' (Ha!)
So - I recommend you just delete ALL saved locations in your RNS510 and see what happens...
MY10 Tiguan 125TSI + APR 1, 6spd manual, Cherry red, RNS510, panoramic roof, park assist, towbar, mats
Mine fixed itself after going for a drive when i loaded the new firmware a while back.
Initially it just displays a white background but should come good.
Depends how old the car is etc as it may need the can gateway upgrade by the sound of it.
I have had the unit for about two weeks so should have sorted it self out in regards to drive around. I will give the save my location ago
