I had a look through the Polo brochure and I can confirm that the 77TSI Comfortline Polo does
not have an actual MFD, so it probably doesn't tell me much other than how many miles I've done, the time and how much fuel I've got. Bit of a bummer. But I have been messaging with another 77TSI Comfortline Polo owner saying he has a RNS510 unit, and it works like a charm, but he also confirms that there is technically no MFD on any non-GTI Polo.
I have seen some people on this forum posting that they have installed the GPS antenna
IN the A-Pillar, they were even nice enough to put up a guide along with pictures:
http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/foru...tml#post831118 and
http://www.vwnav.com.au/POLO_GPS_ANTENNA_INSTALL.pdf - this might be a helpful resource to you guys just in case people might be worried that the antenna sticks out too much looking like a sore thumb (like me
).
At the end of the day, I am hoping the RNS510 unit will work with the standard bluetooth module, the MDI interface, steering wheel buttons, the midline MFD - and whatever else the RNS510 is supposed to be hooked up to (Audio and other standard functions being a no-brainer).
Thanks a lot so far for your replies though, I'm collecting my car at the end of the week - so your installers down in Parramatta should be seeing me soon (within this month at the very least).
How is the delivery going to work? is the RNS510 unit going to be delivered to me first? or will the installer have units ready to go? That and what method of payment do you go by?
