Hi there,
Is anyone aware of a listing anywhere of the difference between RNS510 hardware versions / release dates etc? Especially in relation to the hardware numbers, eg HW04, HW11, HW42.
Does anyone know what (if any) difference this number makes when purchasing a unit off somewhere like ebay?
Thanks!
Amber

Hi Ian - thanks for the reply.
I understand that there are 3 main types - the A, B and C versions of the RNS510 unit.
I'm also aware that there are a wealth of different firmware versions, all of which can be updated to the latest firmware fairly easily.
And, if I understand correctly, Aussies should be looking out for a European RNS510 not the US ones.
What I'm asking is whether anyone knows the meaning of the HW number on the unit - is this related to release date? Region? Model originally installed in? Should it matter what this number says? There seem to be a huge number of different HW variations... is there a table of this information anywhere on the web?
I guess what I'm really after is the current model & HW number installed in brand new VWs rolling out of the showroom right now in Aus, and I'm trying to get an understanding of whether it makes any difference if I buy an LED "C version" unit with, say, HW:04 vs the same LED "C version" unit with some other HW number.
Sorry to re-hash an OLD thread...but I too am now wondering the same thing?!
Really be good to know if anyone knows the difference between the HW numbers (i.e. HW04, HW06, HW42, etc)
I understand about the LED screen (and star key) and versions, but there are a number of HW versions within these.
Any thoughts would be great.
Thanks
