    RNS-510 make nosie

    Hi I am first time to write in here, I had Jetta for about 3 1/2 years. About a week ago when I unlock my car it start make noise about 2-3 seconds. Now seems longer, this happen when I open car door, unlocked car or start engine. I need advice about this issue,

    Sounds like there is something stuck in the fan, or the fan has failed.
    Dismantle it and check it's the fan then replace

    Thank you for reply, I have no idea how to do it if I leave it, is it going to threatening damage of the car? cause my annual service comes up in 4 month.

    It looks like its an RCD 510 and not a NAV unit Leave it turned off if you are worried about it

    I turn it off but that noise still present,

    In that case turn your heater or aircon off and see if thats what it is rather than the radio. Did you turn the radio off with the left hand knob

    Does the RCD 510 (shown in pics above)actually have a fan as all exterior shots except one Russian one dont show fan shaped holes in the case

    If it's the A/C fan then it's a fair chance it will have leaves in it that have entered through the vents in the plenum chamber.

    Do you park under trees that drop leaves?

    If so you may need to access/remove the fan in the passengers footwell to retrieve them but in some cases you can get at them through the fan grill with pointy nose pliers.

    Turn the radio off and see if the noise is still there ,as like weonarok said it could be some thing completely seperate to the radio ?

    I don't turn heater or aircon as winter season, as you ask I fully turn hand knob left and turn radio off. However when door open or start engine it start make noise.

    I don't parking outside, always undercover park. I can't find fan, I am too noob to car
