RNS-510 install in mk6 Golf GTI- problems?

    Hi all,

I just recently bought a new Golf GTI and looking into buying and installing the sat nav RNS-510 (F version) unit myself.
I was reassured by the seller that I will retain all bluetooth and handsfree function. Is this correct?

When my brother upgraded his 2008 GTI with an RNS-510 (C version), he was required to buy a $600 bluetooth module as well. Something I don't want to do! So who's right?

The physical install seems simple enough but I'm worried about losing steering wheel functionality and/or MFD without doing some kind of VAG-COM re-code. Something I know nothing about.

If it does require a re-code, will the dealership do it for me?

Any info would be much appreciated.
    Thanks!

I have done a few of these now an can tell you it's pretty much plug and play. Bluetooth an MDI are separate units do should be completely unaffected by the install.

In all but one case (and that was in a Skoda) the unit just plugged in and worked without incident. The coding only adds the integration with the MFD so isn't essential (although it's very nice). I'm sure there is someone nearby who could sort you out in 5 minutes

    Thanks!
I've heard a rumour that the Bluetooth module and MDI are integrated into the one unit now in my12 cars.
Anyone know if this is true?
