The LC6i can work with only 1 set of inputs (L+R) and then output Line Level to 4 channels (F/R or F/S) - Under AutoMode Inputs in Manual.
If you installer did this then he's cheated you out of F/R fading from your head unit.
He's done this so he only has to run 4 wires (L+R pairs) of inputs to the LC6i.
He should have connected both the front and rear speaker wires to you LC6i and then you would have F/R fader control from your head unit.
When using AutoMode Inputs, you can then run Subs on Ch3 and they are controled by the Ch2 inputs - this then gives you 4 inputs (F+R) to 6ch output (F+R+S)
Which is how I intent to run when I get a LC6i

Just an update, I'm getting the LC6i replaced with an Alpine H800 processor 8 channel. Getting it installed this Monday and also getting the VCDS coded to no sound system. Hopefully that will improve the sound from what I currently have. Just not sure if I can connect my 3 way fronts, 2 way rear and subwoofer all to the H800...might have to use just the front and sub

sounds like a bit of overkill...

I think you are confusing yourself with the term 3 way and 2 way and that means 6/4 wires per side... no That is after the built in crossover - There is still only 2 wire input into a crossover.

you 3 way Fronts and 2 way Rears are still only 2 wires per side so thats still 8 speaker wires from the head unit to power Front and rear speakers. The Lc6i is all you need. The Subwoofer is outputted from Lc6i on 3rd channel RCA's then you use your Subs amp to do the crossover for Low pass only.

I haven't had too much success with the LC6I and it's only a LOC not a processor, I should have better results from the Alpine H800. I'm getting a professional audio shop to install it all so will ask how they propose to wire up the processor. Will post results afterwards!

Ok got it all installed now, made a huge improvement with the processor, it's a lot more clearer and louder than before. Plus there are some many more adjustments you can make. The downside is I had to get the RUX controller with the Alpine processor as it wouldnt work without it. Managed to get this mounted in the ashtray section so it's not too bad. Now it sounds like premium sound should be from factory!
