    Reverse sensors question

Hi all, my brother in law also bought an Octavia same time as me. Both our cars had to be fitted with reverse sensors by the dealer on delivery. I found out last week his reverse sensors have the on screen display when activated but nothing appears on my screen. We both have the same sat nav unit. Have our different dealers fitted different reverse sensor packages? Why does nothing show on my screen and can my dealer fix this? The beeps work fine in my car but nothing on screen. Gonna call tomorrow but thought I'd ask the real experts first

    Reverse sensors question

    From my limited knowledge
May just need to be coded or they may have used a cheaper system that won't communicate with the sat nav unit

I wanted to have parking sensors fitted but the just before (a couple of days) I was about to give the go ahead apparently they weren't ones that would work on screen - even though that's what I told them I wanted all along.

    Hi,
From my understanding, having recently purchased mine, it goes like this:
If you buy the spec level where the reverse sensors are standard then full integration occurs.
Buy lower spec and get them fitted as a dealer fit option, then no integration with the screen. The dealer will fit which ever ones he likes.
Perhaps integration is possible with recoding, maybe depending on the specific sensors
    Cheers
    Steve

That's about right unless the dealer fits factory sensors, which I doubt they would

We both bought identical cars both had reverse sensors fitted by the dealers (Essendon and Brighton) so the conclusion is likely he got factory sensors I did not? Didn't get a chance to call Skoda yet to ask...

Cross your fingers and hope they just didnt do the coding correctly, but used the factory OPS sensors.
If they are aftermarket they won't do integration. THey need to be a parktronic unit that can communicate over the CANbus to the headunit to do the display.
If the dealer cant help just get a scan done with VCDS and if you have the parking sensor module installed it just needs to be coded on the head unit.

So can you get the right module and connect it to any sensors and it will work???? If so I will be very grumpy with my dealer because they to me if not factory - not possible for integration. Sorry if I misread that completely haha

My two cents. If you bought rear parking sensors form a dealer on a new car, and they dont integrate with the head unit. I would be going back to the dealer and saying, fix it. Unless the dealer specifically told you that the sensors would not integrate with the unit, then you have all rights to believe they would behave as per the manual, in which they come up on the display.

Dealers problem, Dealer has to fix. Not your problem if he tried to take shortcuts, but if he did, then you have grounds for misrepresentation as buying new from a dealer with sensors fitted by the dealer indicates they should work as if fitted by the factory, unless you are given something to sign and acknowledge that the sensors would not perform as normal.
