    Reverse Camera and OPS

I am contemplating purchasing a Mark 6 reverse camera for my Mark 5 R32. However, I have OPS in the car and some sellers reckon that the camera is not compatible with the OPS in the RNS 510. I've also read somewhere that if you have a SW version of 2660 or higher, that the RNS could display both the OPS and the reverse camera.

My question is then, to display both the OPS information and reverse camera, is it dependant on the version of the reverse camera (like HW and SW version) or the SW version of the RNS 510 or both?

Could some guru shed some light on the subject please? Has anyone got both working on their car?

    Cheers

Pepe does in his MkVI R, with the RVC purchased and fitted aftermarket. See here.

Thanks AdamD. Now all I gotta findout is the mode/version differences of the camera and the vagcom codes. Cheers

Yeah, it definitely works. I have 2680 on my RNS ver C but I'm pretty sure you're correct about needing >2660 for both to work. I'm pretty sure the version of the camera wouldn't matter (provided it's the OEM one).

And yes, there are a couple of VAG-COM codes you need to put in. I'm sorta half way through documenting the whole episode, so that should tell you what you need to know for coding at least.

    Thanks for your reply Pepe.

Just concerning when I read in this fleebay ad that "this camera is not compatible with vehicle that already has OPS" OEM VW GOLF V VI BADGE REAR VIEW CAMERA RVC for RNS510 (eBay item 280572164596 end time 07-Dec-10 00:12:28 AEDST) : Cars, Bikes, Boats

By the way, did you mention in your other post that ECS tuning has a "Kit" that has got all the rest of those bits and pieces like repair wire, drain tube, connectors, etc...? I couldn't for the life of me find it on their site. Does it work out cheaper going with them or somebody else? PM me if you like.

    Cheers.

Someone else mentioned it, but I couldn't find it and I think I asked, turns out it was just the coax cable it came with, not all the extra bits. Based on my experience, the bits you need vary anyway depending on Mk5 or Mk6 and whether you have standard or LED tail lights, plus, there are different variations of the camera model too that require varying levels of parts to fit. I bought all the bits I thought I'd need and I've got more than half left over (including one pesky screw, damnit).

If you've got a Mk5, then you're best starting with Maverick's shopping list, and depending what who you buy the camera/coax cable from, I can tell you what bits you don't need to order.

Thanks for the pointer Pepe. Will have a look at Mav's posting and adhere to his shopping list. Can I please ask whom you got your camera from?
