Grey is typically fog, but that is aus wiring codes so may be different (we all have a fog on one side, and a reverse on the other...)

I also need to tap into the wires for my aftermarket camera. With the CANBUS, am I right in thinking a old school 12v test light won't show me which of the two wires to the reverse light (grey and then a brown with white line) in our Jetta is positive ? - no success to date ?
Anyone help ?

Should be simple — unplug the 2 wires and the one that lights your test lamp is +.
If the wires don't unplug, remove the globe instead.

That is the problem - my old tech test light does not light up even when plugged in the reverse light terminals !
As the Jetta has both the number plate light (for camera mount) and the reverse light in the boot lid, I want to find a feed there instead of running a feed wire from somewhere else (like the 12v in the boot).

If you remove the reverse light bulb, connect your test light (make sure it has a good earth) close the boot lid and activate the reverse light (ignition on, engage reverse, step on the brake,) your test light will light up if connected to +12V.
If it doesn't, you have it on the wrong terminal.
Good luck finding permanent +12V in the boot lid — I don't think there is one.

I installed a camera today and have the same issue where it works when the engine isn't running, a perfect picture is displayed. But when the engine is runnning the picture flickers, changes colors and unwatchable.
I tested with a multimeter and when the engine isn't running but in the accessories position the multimeter is measuring 15.6, when the engine is running the multimeter is measuring close to 17. Seems like the camera doesn't like the extra volt or so. The power specs for the camera is 8-16.
Is there any way I can fix this? Do I need a voltage regulator for the camera?
So I tried one of these today MC78T12 12V 3A Voltage Regulator - Jaycar Electronics
I hope that this would fix my issue, no luck though. Any ideas?
