    Retrofit RNS510 without Canbus upgrade

Hi guys, I recently purchased a C version RNS510 and put it in my 06 R32 last night.
Wanting to spend as little as possible I looked for alternatives to buying a new canbus (I know it's only $100 but that is a carton of Leffe or Chimay!!!)
While researching I found a UK forum that has modified the 27xx firmware so that you don't need to upgrade the canbus.

You can find the post here http://vwnavi.com/showthread.php/136...WL-recovery-CD

Time will tell if it has solved the power drain issues using a software fix and I'll report back in a few days on whether my battery is dead or not.

Oh and I take no responsibility if you try this method and it doesn't work, I'm just providing a link...
DBP 2006 R32. No cash, no mods... except flapper mod cause, well that was free! oh oh stubby antenna on the way!!

    Hi
    I have a MY08 passat and I have just installed a RNS510 myself.
Can you please explain what a canbus is? I had a problem with the antenna cables as the socket in the rns510 were too close to each other. So for now I have forced the cable in and everything seem to be working including the radio. But I have ordered an adaptor to be sure I haven't done anything wrong. Some help will be appreciated.
