Retrofit RNS510 and reverse parking camera options

    Hi guys.

I know that the reverse parking camera with the moving guidance lines that works with the RNS510 requires a special controller. If I retrofit an RNS510 does anyone know whether I can use a vanilla reversing camera with the RNS510 WITHOUT the guidance controller?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes you can by using a device like the Kufatec video in device.

No it's not recommended at the moment because of the problems that the Kufatec adapter has where it doesn't operate correctly. Around 30% of the time it doesn't switch the screen on and when it does work it operates in colour or black/white at it's choice.

I currently have a kufatec reverse camera adapter as well (with an Alpine Camera) and i wouldn't recommend getting one until they bring out a new model or fix the existing design.

Most of the time it doesn't work when you want it to.

I'd look into the genuine adapter or kit but it's going to be double the price - probably worth it if it works properly though.

Edit: Sick of seeing the message "reverse camera not available at this time" as well.
