I looked at the 187E but the price puts it over our duty waiver limit so add another $160 to the price for duty. Went with the upgraded 187B with 1 GB RAM and FW version 5515 from the same seller. Installed this morning and everything working well except:

    - No messaging apps - anyone know if it's possible to have messaging apps on this unit?

    - Music apps limited to Google Play Music which does not have access to local music except random play all, and Pulsar which crashes the system trying to access Artists, Albums, or any Genre with more than around 50 tracks. ANyone know why or can recommend another better-supported music player?

    - Can't work out how to wire the RGB-CVBS adapter correctly to get the OEM camera working. Tried wiring both the red (+ve) and yellow (reverse) wires to power and black to ground for test install but no dice. Getting voltage to the adapter input plug but the headunit doesn't detect the camera. OPS works fine. Camera coding has been done - just get the "reverse view not available" error message. Extensive searching of the web and other forums yields nothing. Lots of people asking, lots of vague answers from a bunch of internet exerts repeating what they've read some where. No-one who appears to have actually done it except one youtube video showing a wire being run from the actual camera through the vehicle to the adapter. Anyone actually got their oem camera successfully up and running? How?

I've got the same problem with the camera. I have two adapters that both don't work. Would be good if someone could shed some light

    I have a 187B (Crngiar) unit too...

SMS works over Bluetooth with my Galaxy S8. WhatsApp, Messenger and SMS (through Google Assistant) work through Android Auto.

I can run Spotify and Pocket Casts on Android Auto from my Galaxy S8. I've noticed it's a bit ****y trying to get AA to detect AA compatible apps on your phone...

It seems to recognise (and remember) them if you open the AA app on your phone when not connected to the car, tap the menu and then 'Apps for Android Auto'. This takes you to the Play Store where you can install or open apps you've already installed. Once you've done this AA seems to remember the app and you can use it in the car.

I have a non-genuine RVC with composite output (no need for RGB-CVBS adapter). Like you I could not get it to work when doing a test install. It seems that the RCD wants to receive the signals in a certain order for it to activate. ie. CAN message first, then a change in video signal state within a specified time period - it doesn't seem to work if the RVC video signal is present before it receives the CAN message. When I hooked it all up to the car so that the RVC was powered up in the correct sequence it all magically seemed to work. Hope this helps.

WhatsApp and sms pop up as notifications on screen. If you tap them AA reads them out and you can reply using voice to text. But there is no messaging app per se.

Either a limitation of the unit or an issue with my phone (LG G6) Same problem regardless of the app I use. Have tried Google Play Music, Rocket Player, Pulsar, and MD player.

Sinosmart (eBay and AliExpress) who supplied the RGB converter think it might be an issue with the dynamic trajectory camera. Possible as it may need a CAN connection to turn on and get steering wheel position info??? They offered to send me a different unit that *might* work or refund me. I took refund and will try find a solution or buy an aftermarket camera without dynamic trajectory rather than take the punt.
