I own a Golf R Mk6 with reverse camera and dynaudio.
A bit of confusion, however from what I gathered, the RCD330+ will give me degraded sound quality and lose ability to use MFD.
However, the pros are that it integrates with the stock reverse camera and has CarPlay?
Please let me know if I’m missing something as I’ve been hesitant to bite the bullet thus far

Hi all,
I'm hoping to install the RCD330+ in my 2013 Passat alltrack. I've been holding off, waiting for a solution to the highline reverse camera problem which seems to have been going on for a couple of years now. I have a couple of questions for the hivemind:
1. Has anyone tried this Xtrons decoder for a highline (bendy guideline) reverse camera (XTRONS CAMDCV01 Reversing Camera Decoder Box for VW Volkswagen Passat-in Car Diagnostic Cables & Connectors from Automobiles & Motorcycles on Aliexpress.com | Alibaba Group)? Xtrons themselves arent too clear when I asked.
2. is there a solution for installing an aftermarket camera that doesnt require running a new wire from the camera to the headunit? eg, can I install a new camera using the existing OEM wiring and then attach this to the RCD330+?
3. can anyone recommend a decent VW mech in melbourne who can assist with some other mods (eg. upgrading park pilot to park assist)
Sorry if these are simpleton questions, im new to this forum.
Thanks!
There is no solution for the factory highline camera with an rcd330.
I've used an aftermarket can rvc with discover media which works well.
In theory it's the same generation head unit so should also work.

Hi guys, long time listener, first time caller....
I recently purchased and installed an RCD330 into my 2010 R36.
I mistakenly purchased the Desay version.
Very happy with it, apart from the balance fader not being able to activate the rear speakers.
I think the other day whilst listening to music, I activated the camera on my phone, and music was
then softly playing through the rear speakers only.
I was thinking of returning it, and purchasing a No Name instead.
So my question is...
Is there an easy fix for this problem with the Desay? Does the No Name have the same problem?
Or should I get the No Name for more reasons, among the ability to update firmware?
I have the Desay version... everything works great so far..... i did have an issue with carplay (wouldn't connect after changing usb cable) but I reset the unit and everything is working fine now.
hold down the power button for 5-10sec and then let go, you should see it reboot - this fixed my carplay issue.

The Desay worked great for me, except the rear speakers not working.
I've returned it and am waiting for the no name I've ordered to arrive, bit slow posting this one.
The rear speakers might not work with the no name either, but I'm hopeful this can be fixed.
I ordered the no name mostly because of the firmware update ability,
apparently there's a new version of carplay being released soon....
So I got the No name version, had issues with beeping on start up, fader all the way on front left speaker
at every start up, and couldn't adjust equalizer which made the sound terrible.
Updated firmware and all issues fixed.
Easy.
Considering buying one of these for my 06 Jetta, just wanted to make sure I have the right idea of what needs to be done before purchasing. Currently undecided between the A or B model, not sure if the Android Auto is worth the extra cost, if I do get a B model I plan on buying the cheaper noname version with MirrorLink and Apple Carplay then reflashing the firmware to one with Android Auto. Can someone confirm the following list should work with my car:
- Steering wheel adapter for 8 button steering wheel (my car has half height MFD if this makes a difference?)
- Dual fakra antenna adapter
- Updated Canbus: for this I was planning on getting one from a newer mk5 at the wreckers then just recoding it with VCDS to match my car - will this work?
Cheers,
Michael
