Replacing Head Unit - RCD310 -> RCD510

So my Tiguan came with the RCD310 and I'm considering upgrading to the RCD510 if I can find one cheap enough on ebay.

there's only one picture, not sure about whether it's the right model/version for an Aussie Volkswagen.

really not feeling the love, I didn't ask if it was a straight swap, I'm asking if this unit is one that I should purchase, hence the search function is of no use to me.

all I want to know is, if you were buying an RCD510 would you purchase this one?

No offence mate, but it was a pretty open question.
I would contact the seller - ask if it has the code (no code = no buy), and can he confirm it is out of an aus delivered car.
Some of the RCD510's also have a "mustard coloured" 26pin plug on the pack for a reversing camera if you wanted to go down that route. No idea if you do, but if you want to keep the option open...

Cody please read the post on RCD 510 versions in this section I have written up a few points regarding the various models available. I have been down the same road as you and replaced my Rcd300 with an rcd510 in my Tiguan. You should try and replace it with a late model Bosch unit that has RDS & RVC option in case you want to install an OEM camera like I did.

You may also need to get hold of a VCDS cable and software to enable the MDI & Bluetooth options within the radio module unit as they may have not been standard in the previous VW.There is an ideal unit currently on eBay for sale, the seller lives in Melbourne so you could pick it up from him or her without the postage cost and it sounds like they could do the VCDS coding for you Pm me yr mobile no for any additional info
