I lost AM reception completely and took the car back to VW. They tightened connectors to the signal amplifier under the back parcel shelf. It lasted a month. Second time, they replaced the connectors. It lasted about a month again. Third time they replaced the aerial. It's lasted 2 months.
The f**king thing has gone faulty again. This time it works, but not until I've driven it for 15 minutes or so.
I've had heaps of helpful suggestions like listen to FM instead. I listen to Melbourne ABC and unless VW do a DAB+ receiver I want AM reception.
Two questions:
1. Has anybody else experienced this?
2. I've been told the factory fitted RNS on an R36 has a GPS shark fin antenna on the roof. My'n doesn't but it was meant to be factory fitted. So, the question is, does the factory fitted unit on an R36 have a roof antenna for the GPS or is it under the dash? I'm wondering if I've got a botched dealer fitted job.
Thanks for any advice or answers,
Steve
