Recent experiences with Zenec NC2010 ?

The guys I bought the kit from use DPD, according to my invoice. The DPD website gives me a shipping time of 3-5 days and the quote on that page "Our delivery times. You can depend on them."

I'm ready to be impressed with German efficiency!

I haven't received my shipment yet, but if the shipping company's website is anything to go by (one would think) I can expect the NC2010 and RCE2001B to arrive this week.

Once I receive the items I'll attempt to give a detailed run down of what's included, any installation issues, map data currency and any other things I can think about.

let us know how you go with it... if you need help installing the unit, setting it up and/or installing oz maps, ozmale from the vwgolf.net.au forum will be happy to help. it would not be an understatement to suggest that he knows more about the unit than zenec themselves!

Hi Chylld. I saw that thread when it was about half as long as it is now. It's a pity that ozmale has had such a stuff around with his headunit. Considering I've only paid about AUD$1200 for my Zenec, I may fork out an additional fee for getting the local Zenec reseller to install it under warranty. I don't expect to get any issues with RVC because I've gone with the Zenec one, which you'd expect to integrate flawlessly.

If there are people still interested in getting the NC2010, could you post a link back to this thread there? I think paying AUD$2000 for a new one from Australia is pretty steep if the guys I'm going getting mine from come through with the goods.

The RVC is one of the few things that has actually worked flawlessly ozmale's problems are now not so much about the unit itself, but that the support just isn't there, and that fundamentally it is an older system (win ce 5, as opposed to mine which is win ce 6) which does limit the software capabilities.

I will gladly point people back to this thread if they show interest in the zenec but you're the only brave soul that i know of who has taken the dive since ozmale.

Update: My NC2010 has arrived earlier this week. I'm currently still overseas, but I'm thinking of starting a separate thread on the installation and any issues I encounter with this device. Once I get back I'll kick that off with photos where appropriate. I'll mostly be exploring the navigation capabilities and map data. Not so much interested in audio or video aspects, but that might develop...

Can anyone confirm the if the climate control details appear on the screen from an 08/09 Gti?

This unit does sound the goods instead of the 510 option.

PS: How many RCA outs does it have for audio ie: to install external amps?

Not sure on the climate control screen for your specific car, but I've turned mine off as it's really a redundant feature and not able to be controlled from the NC2010. No point having it display and covering whatever other function is active.

As for the audio outputs, the NC2010 has 6 lines coming out: Centre, Subwoofer, L Rear, R Rear, L Front and R Front. There are an additional L Rear and R Rear lines, but these go with the two rear monitor lines for when rear screens are installed.
