I had a loaner Golf with the RCD510 fitted for a couple of days and noticed that, with RDS enabled, the display showed the song title and artist when a song was playing. I'd never seen that feature and when I got my GTI I found that I don't get that text on the RNS510...
I've read the manual and it would seem that the 'radio text' isn't available on the RNS510 after all. Does anyone know otherwise?

My RNS510 doesn't show radio text (do any local FM stations broadcast it?), but does show the text (when available) from CD or SD.

the RCD unit has an option called 'radio text' when you're listening to the radio under 'extras' at the bottom of the unit. Some stations in Sydney transmit text and I noticed that it showed song and artist or other text when no music was being played. The RNS doesn't have that option for some reason.

MY 2007 GT Sport displays text in Brisbane. 97.9FM from memory out of Ipswich...Sorry its been awhile but it definitely works on what ever the standard radio was in the 2007 GT Sport diesel

Nope, I have an 2010 FG XR6 Turbo Ute for work, and it displays the Station name And whatever song is playing underneath, and sometimes the weather or other announcements in between songs, and that most DEF is not a DAB+ radio.Originally Posted by mickofoz

The RCD310 and RCD510 have it. I see no reason why the RNS510 shouldn't be able to show the text. There's room for it where the station name is displayed. Hopefully a firmware update can add it back on day. It was cool seeing what the weather forcast would be written on the screen.
