    RCD510 or something else?

    Hi,

I'm contemplating upgrading my head unit in my Tiguan when I get home. I've got the standard "Crappy" 2-Din head unit and I was wondering what others people's opinions are and if anyone has gone away from VW head units to something different.

The reason I'm not sure which way to go is this.. Will i still be able to use my steering wheel mount controller if I go for something different? For instance, I quite like some of the Pioneer models...

AVH-P4350DVD Double-Din Multimedia Player with 7-inch Screen, SD card input, iPod Control, USB and Aux-in - Pioneer DVD Player & Screens

    and

AVH-P3350BT Double-Din Bluetooth AV Player with 5.8-inch Screen, SD card input, iPod Control, Front USB and Aux-in - Pioneer DVD Player & Screens

Or should I just go for a standard RCD510 so I know all of my VW stuff will work.. Help me people..

    Cheers
    Lee

depends what u want to achieve. there is a rcd510 fs atm on the golfnet forums, owner just upgraded to a rns510, going for $350.
my brother just bought a sony xav70bt 7" unit for his hilux, gotthe PAC controller so he keeps his steering wheel buttons, all up landed is abit over $500, but its a superior unit, plays dvd movies, more range if u want to upgrade the complete stereo system, better quality screen etc.
    so it depends.....

Which BT module is it ? Can it be manipulated on the MFD and do the call lists, etc, come up there ?

Having the same dilemma myself between RCD510 and RNS510, since the only interest I have in the Nav features of the RNS510 would be keeping track of the current speed limit, which apparently it doesn't do anyway because the maps are crap.
