rcd510 build in mk5 gti

hey guys,

after many hours of searching and reading on vdub forums, i'm considering installing a rcd510.

as these come up in the trader section every fortnight or so for just over the $300 mark, i've been rather tempted to take the plunge and update my in car entertainment.

i'm basically looking for all the components needed to get this unit with the features up to the spec i want. having said that, i'm basically at the stage where i'm crunching numbers to see if its really worth it, or put some more money into the engine! haha

the features i want out of the headunit:

- bluetooth connection to my phone (not worried about voice controlled)
- reverse camera
- ipod connectivity

i'm aware of such components as the mdi kit, i'm trying to put together an entire package!

if you're suggesting a product, would you be so kind as to provide a link? i've been told theres heaps of goodies on ebay too!

Also not all RCD510's have the input for the reverse camera, so you'd need to check before buying.

ahh k cool, i imagine it'll have something to do with a serial number and build dates, the particular unit i'm looking at the moment is only about 2 weeks old out of a golf r.

i think i might give vw aus a buzz tomorow, they might be able to let me know a particular model serial number i'm looking for!

If it is out of the car then you can ask the seller - the new units *SHOULD* (note: all care, no responsibility here) have RVC inputs, and it is a big yellow plug on the back of the unit on the opposite side to the CANBUS connector.
