    RCD510 with aftermarket TV tuner

    Hi all

Have recently ordered a Golf R and decided to stick with the stocker RCD510 rather than shell out 3500 for the RNS510. Now I've seen some conflicting reports on the internet baout the ability to put an aftermarket TV tuner onto the RCD 510 here...

www.tvandnav2go.com - Automotive Automobile Video & Navigations - Navigation Systems - Navigation Conversions - Digital Clusters - Navigtion / Video Integration Upgrades - Reverse Camera Integrations - Navigation Integrations - Auto TV - Auto Navigat

Now I've also optioned the Reversing camera, interestingly enough a UK forum suggests that if you do option the Reversing camera your RCD510 will have an additional video input on the rear which would negate the need for a video interface and theoretically you could just plug in a tv signal...

    Thoughts? Has anyone done this?

The reason I want to get TV is because I'm driving to and from a mine site every 4 days the trip is about ten hours one way so I NEED entertainment lol

On the RVC/TV thing, I've heard that it could potentially be done, but Kufatec are saying it's tricky if you're using their RVC.

Probably cheaper to buy a little cheap TV and mount it behind your rear badge, then hotwire the RVC to turn on when you want TV

I had tv tuner in the V35 which I had sold, ended up a waste of $800 as I never watch it... way too much distraction plus the constant need to look over your shoulder in case there's a cop car nearby... not worth the bother IMHO... unless you're planning to mount a couple of headrest lcd screen for the backseat passenger (kids!) on long drive...
