RCD 510 in MY07 MkV

Hey guys

Just recently acquired an rcd 510 to upgrade from an rcd 300 unit in my golf.

Ive been told it is a straight swap, if so, fantastic. Youtube videos show the install to be quite simple.
However i have been told the coding is a pain in the neck, i have the code for the 510... But ive been informed i need to code it (pair) with my car to work, especially with the steering wheel controls

If anyone can shed a light on this, i can install this asap, as im over using mp3 cds.
Whilst im at this, how much is a mdi kit for this unit? I would be using an iphone obviously but i highly prefer an aux input.

Btw i have searched on this with little satisfaction as most people have rns systems and i have no interest in sat nav

It could be a straight swap and every thing might work ,if the RCD 300 steering wheel controls worked before it should be a straight swap ,

Everything works, i juss get told by my friend who had a R32, he upgraded to an rcd or rns from his 300., that the car needs coding to the radio vice versa...

If someone has done this conversion with out intervention from vw, please say so

The RNS510 requires some VCDS coding (to enable the MFD display etc)....but, AFAIK the RCD510 is a straight plug n play.

Guess ill have to have a go and see what happens ey
Ill advise on results when the weather cools down for me to change it over, little warm in melb at present

Installed the unit yesterday on my own and works a treat!
how ever, i looked and was curious as to if i can manually wire up and AUX in, pins are there, so it should work by rule of thumb

anyone attempted this?
