    RCD 510 display brightness

Does anybody know if the RCD510 should change display brightness automagically, either from ambient light, or along with dashboard illumination?
Did I miss a bit coding?
Or is there a secret single button press that cycles between the brightness settings?
Using the setup menu (setup, display, brightness, scroll, press, media) to do it twice a day is just a bit too fiddly!

I hate to admit it, but the ANS810 had a hard button that cycled round the settings, including a display off when you didn't need it. Still, that was about the only thing that worked properly on that unit

The brightness is in your head unit setup menu. Change it to auto...VDUB...

Sorry, should have explained but that's what I'm missing.
There are 5 or 6 levels from Very Bright to Very Dark, but no auto.

I find the brightness on my RCD510 to be hopeless. Have it set on high & at night it's fine but during the day in glare it's a shocker.

I drive with my lights on Scandinavian setting, so maybe that's the issue

Any dust on the RCD screen and it can make it hard to see especially if there's sunlight on the dash.

I have a Bosch RCD510 and haven't found the brightness too much of an issue (not enough to cause me problems at least).

    Bosch.
I have to change from Brightest to Darkest between day and night time.
Would love it to do it automatically.
Manual that came with it is silent on this matter, apart from to point to the menu that is missing 'Auto' setting.

Perhaps there is different firmware for the RCD510...???

Or as Transporter says perhaps different hardware revisions/manufacturers (which will likely be running different firmware also).
