Rcd 310 not happy, upragding to RCD510?

Hi all, Fairly new here with a Tiguan as the second car but so far its been fantastic great car!!!

Have the std RDC310 as the CD/Radio with Kufatec Bluetooth ( great BT btw), only issue with the RCD310 is ................(dont laugh), when wearing polarized sunglasses, the screen is completly invisible. Now thats Ok when on the radio but annoying with Park assist and front rear sensors screaming at me. I assume there is no fix? Just wondering if I go down the path of a 510 either RCD or RNS do I have the same issue.

hehe well you could always cock your head 90 degrees to see it

But yes, no fix unless you have sunglasses that are polarized in the other axis

Sorry I can't say if the 510 has the same issue.

Edit: Just tried my gunglasses with my RNS510, it only does it when I turn the glasses 90degrees and the Red Dot Display then goes black too.. So I'd say you might want to look at getting a better pair of glasses, sunnies.

I'm glad someone else has noticed this - the RCD 310 has a horizontally polarized LCD filter which is fundamentally stupid since almost all polarised sunglasses are vertically polarized to help filter out road glare (since more horizontally polarized light is reflected from a horizontal surface).

This has NOTHING to do with needing better sunglasses - it is a design flaw in the display of the RCD310 and like coastvw, I find it incredibly annoying when trying to use the park sensors/assist that I need to remove my sunglasses on a bright day

Maybe they have horizontally polarized sunglasses in Europe.
I changed RCD310 to RCD510 but I can't think back now if I had the same issue with the RCD310. The RCD510 is OK and the park assist display is great no probs with polarizing.

Skiers use vertically polarised sunglasses so I don't see why Europe would do that - I have never heard of horizontally polarized sunglasses.

I'm now even more keen to replace my RCD310 with a RCD510 as I contend that the RCD310 design is flawed

Consider RNS510 unless the RCD510 is really cheap, I got ours for $220 incl. posting, ...couldn't resist it.

Do it - I just have and it is so much better, I can't describe it!

And it only takes a couple of minutes to swap over after you get the fascia surround off (you will need a T20 torx bit)

Oh, and I can confirm that the display filter is not horizontally polarized - it's the normal 45 degree polarization that almost all LCD displays use.
